LegCo Members meet with Sha Tin and Islands District Council members (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (May 30) with members of the Sha Tin District Council (DC) and the Islands District Council respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2 of the LegCo Complex to enable LegCo Members and DC members to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

     During the meeting with the Sha Tin District Council, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: addition of access points to Tai Shui Hang Station and Heng On Station of Ma On Shan Rail; enhancement of the qualification of driving instructors; review of the Building Management Ordinance (Cap. 344) and relevant building management initiatives; and comments and matters of concern regarding free kindergarten education. The meeting was convened by Mr James To and attended by Ms Emily Lau, Mr Jeffrey Lam, Mr Ronny Tong, Mr Chan Hak-kan, Mr Cheung Kwok-che, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Leung Kwok-hung, Mr James Tien, Mr Gary Fan, Mr Ma Fung-kwok, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Dr Elizabeth Quat and Dr Lo Wai-kwok.

     As for the meeting with the Islands District Council, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: development and planning of Lantau Island; development and ancillary facilities of Tung Chung, proposals to introduce minibus services into Tung Chung and open up the SkyPier; ferry services and safety of pier in Islands District; progress of improvement works at Mui Wo; land planning of Tai O and Yi O; and fare increase of Discovery Bay Ferries. The meeting was convened by Ms Starry Lee and attended by Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Chan Han-pan, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Leung Che-cheung, Ms Alice Mak and Mr Tang Ka-piu.
