Transcript of remarks by Acting SED
***********************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Acting Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, at a media session after attending the Legislative Council meeting today (May 29):

Reporter: With the arrangements, a lot of parents say there is a lot of pressure. Why don't you skip this whole process and just allow them to return to North District? And also the pressure of having to give up the Tai Po school before choosing to go into this draw. A lot of parents are worried about what will happen after the draw, so why not let them keep their position in the Tai Po school and then see about their North District placing?

Acting Secretary for Education: That is why we ask them to consider carefully whether the school place in Tai Po allocated actually suits their children. It is more appropriate for them to consider the support of the school provided, the teaching environment, and then the travelling arrangement before making a final decision on whether they should give up this good opportunity and go back to North District.
