SFH on Tai Shing Street Market
******************************

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after visiting public markets with the Legislative Council Panel on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene this morning (May 28):

Reporter: (On compensation to market stalls affected by a fire that broke out in Tai Shing Street Market earlier.)

Secretary for Food and Health: Regarding the fire that broke out in a public market recently, the representatives and senior officials of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department are very concerned about it. Immediately after the fire, they followed up the incident very closely with the affected stalls and their representatives, the District Council and the relevant government departments. Most of the stalls in that market have already resumed their operation after completion of emergency repair works. For a section of the market which is severely damaged, repair works will take months. We are now considering options to relocate those stalls affected to another section of the market on a temporary basis so that they could continue their operation.
