The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
Eight Legislative Council (LegCo) Members paid a site visit to the North East New Territories today (May 25).
Accompanied by the officials of the Development Bureau, the Members visited Kwu Tung Village, the proposed Kwu Tung Railway Station, sawmills at Kwu Tung and Long Valley in the morning to see the local business, farm land and surrounding areas. They also visited a golf course in Fanling and received a briefing by the representatives of the golf course. In the afternoon, the Members visited Fu Tei Au Tsuen and Tin Ping Estate to see the proposed Shek Wu Hui Sewage Treatment Works extension and the Fanling North New Development Area. In addition, Members visited Tai Po Tin and Yuen Ha Tsuen.
The Convener of the site visit is the LegCo Complaints Division Duty Roster Member, Mr Chan Chi-chuen. Other Members participating in the site visit include Ms Emily Lau, Dr Lam Tai-fai, Mr Alan Leong, Mr Leung Kwok-hung, Mr Gary Fan, Dr Fernando Cheung and Mr Chung Kwok-pan.
