Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lantau North this (May 23) afternoon in which a 62-year-old man died.
About 12.15pm, a light goods vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man was travelling along Cheung Tung Road towards Disneyland, while the 62-year-old man was riding a bicycle along Sunny Bay Road. When the bicycle turned left to Cheung Tung Road, it reportedly collided with the light goods vehicle.
Sustaining serious injuries to his head, the cyclist was rushed to the Prince Margaret Hospital where he was certified dead at 12.51pm.
The light goods vehicle driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.
