Fraudulent email purporting to be related to Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:

     The Hong Kong Monetary Authority wishes to alert members of the public in Hong Kong to an e-mail purporting to be sent from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited (ICBC(Asia)). The e-mail asks recipients to give confirmation on remittance related-matters (Remittance Confirmation) and may contain attached file(s) with unknown content.

     ICBC(Asia) has clarified that the e-mail was neither issued nor authorized by it, and it has not asked customers or any other person to give the Remittance Confirmation. ICBC(Asia) has reminded members of the public not to give any Remittance Confirmation or open any file(s) attaching to the fraudulent e-mail.

     ICBC(Asia) has already reported the case to the Hong Kong Police Force for investigation.

     Anyone who has enquiry or received any suspected fraudulent e-mail purporting to be related to ICBC(Asia) should contact the bank at 2189 5588 as soon as possible.
