CSSA caseload for April

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in April showed a drop of 417 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, when compared to that in March, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (May 22).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of April stood at 267 206 (see attached table), with a total of 412 889 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 0.9 per cent and 0.7 per cent to 9 854 cases and 23 139 cases respectively. Single parent cases and old age cases both dropped by 0.1 per cent to 30 475 cases and 153 059 cases respectively.

     Permanent disability cases remained steady at 18 358 cases and ill-health cases registered a slight increase of 0.2 per cent to 25 259 cases.
