Chief Executive saddened by death of Sir Denys Roberts

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (May 22) expressed his sadness at the passing of former Chief Justice Sir Denys Roberts.
Sir Denys was appointed Attorney General in 1966 and Colonial Secretary (later renamed as Chief Secretary) in 1973. He was Chief Justice from 1979 to 1988. He had also served as Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal between 1997 and 2003.
"Sir Denys had made tremendous contributions to the legal profession and judicial sector in Hong Kong. On behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Sir Denys' family," the Chief Executive said.
