A village representative by-election will be held on Sunday (May 26).
Thirteen Village Representative vacancies are open in the by-election and 10 valid nominations were received during the nomination period.
Two candidates are running for the Indigenous Inhabitant Representative post of Ma Wan Chung of the Tung Chung Rural Committee and polling will be held for the village. The poll will run from noon to 7pm on May 26. Registered electors should bring their valid identity documents to the designated polling station at AMS Tung Chung Office, No. 1 Ha Ling Pei, Tung Chung, Lantau Island, New Territories, to cast their votes.
The Home Affairs Department appeals to registered electors of the Ma Wan Chung Indigenous Inhabitant Representative Election to exercise their right to vote.
Eight candidates were returned uncontested in their villages to become the Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives of Tin Ha Wan, Kwan Mun Hau and Ting Kau, and the Resident Representatives of Shung Him Tong (East), See Cheung Street, Tung Lo Wan, Kei Lun Wai and Kong Tau. No valid nomination was received for Tai Po, Kau Tam Tso, Tin Liu Ha and Sham Shek.

Arrangements will be made to enable remanded persons and detainees who are registered electors to cast their votes in the by-election.
Electors who are remanded or detained by law enforcement agencies (other than the Correctional Services Department) will be arranged to cast their votes at the dedicated polling station at Mei Tin Community Hall, 9 Mei Mun Lane, Tai Wai, Sha Tin, New Territories. The polling hours are from noon to 7pm.
If necessary, 22 reserved dedicated polling stations set up in penal institutions will be open for voting from 1pm to 4pm for electors under the custody of the Correctional Services Department.
