With regard to media enquiries on the meeting arrangements of the Executive Council (ExCo), the ExCo Secretariat today (May 20) responds as follows:
The new-term Government attaches great importance to the work of the ExCo. All along, the ExCo has handled the agenda items proposed by policy bureaux in a prompt and serious manner. Subjects on the agenda have been thoroughly discussed, often leading to longer ExCo meetings. On some occasions, the meetings even lasted till the afternoon. Last year, the summer recess was reduced from about two months to two weeks.
As there is no agenda item tomorrow (May 21), the meeting has been cancelled. The cancellation was agreed by members at last Tuesday's meeting.
