Police are investigating a murder case in Western District today (May 18) in which a 71-year-old man was killed.
At about 2.45am, Police received a report from staff of a nursing home on 28 Davis Street that a man was attacked there.
Police officers sped to the scene and found the man lying unconsciously on a bed. Sustaining head injuries, the man was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 3.23am.
Police arrested an 86-year-old man at the scene for murder. Initial investigations revealed that he attacked the deceased with a walking stick.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death.
Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Western District are under way.
