ArchSD launches "ARCHITOUR" smartphone application (with photos)
*********************************************************

The Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) will launch a free smartphone application, "ARCHITOUR", tomorrow (May 16). The application provides an overview of a number of representative government buildings from a design perspective to facilitate public understanding of their design concepts and architectural and spatial characteristics, as well as eco-friendly and greening elements.

"We hope the public can join our online guided tour anytime and anywhere through the application, thereby raising their knowledge and interest in public architecture. In this initial phase, we will introduce eight government buildings under the themes 'Peaceful Soul' and 'Vibrant Waterfront'. Different themes of buildings will be rolled out in response to public views," a spokesman for ArchSD said.

The application provides photos, videos, written descriptions and maps of the building projects. It is available on both iPhone and Android platforms. Users may search for "ARCHITOUR" in the iPhone App Store or the Google Play Store for direct download. They may also use "My Location" and social networking sharing functions to search for "ARCHITOUR" buildings within the vicinity to plan itineraries and share favourites with friends and families.
