Police reclassified a wounding and assault case in North Point occurred on May 11 as murder and assault.
About 11.35pm on that day, Police received a report that a 42-year-old man was assaulted by six men aged about 40 to 50 standing about 1.7 to 1.8 metres with fists and kicks at the junction of Shu Kuk Street and Java Road. His male companions both aged 38 attempted to stop but were also attacked outside Java Road Market.
The 42-year-old man and one of his companions were rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where the former was certified dead on 5.27pm yesterday (May 14).
Active investigations by the Regional Anti-triad Unit of Hong Kong Island are under way.
