Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate the holding of a soccer match held at the Hong Kong Stadium tomorrow (May 11).
The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 4.30pm:
I. Road closure
(a) Caroline Hill Road between its eastern junction with Leighton Road and Cotton Path; and
(b) Westbound Hysan Avenue between Hoi Ping Road and Sunning Road.
II. Traffic diversion
(a) Caroline Hill Road between its western junction with Leighton Road and Stadium Path will be re-routed one way southbound;
(b) Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road will be re-routed one way northbound;
(c) Traffic cones will be laid on a section of Caroline Hill Road between its western junction with Leighton Road and Link Road to allow two lanes of traffic entering Caroline Hill Road from Hoi Ping Road;
(d) Traffic from northbound Link Road downhill to northbound Caroline Hill Road must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
(e) Hysan Avenue between Leighton Road and Hoi Ping Road will be re-routed one way eastbound;
(f) Traffic cones will be laid on eastbound Hysan Avenue to facilitate two lanes of traffic to turn right to Hoi Ping Road;
(g) Traffic on westbound Hysan Avenue between Yun Ping Road and Sunning Road must turn left to Sunning Road;
(h) Vehicles leaving the Lee Gardens must turn left to eastbound Hysan Avenue;
(i) When necessary, traffic on Lan Fong Road will be prohibited from turning left to southbound Lee Garden Road. Affected vehicles will be diverted to northbound Lee Garden Road, Foo Ming Street and southbound Percival Street; and
(j) All vehicles heading for the Hong Kong Stadium may be permitted to turn right from the offside lane of eastbound Leighton Road to Caroline Hill Road.
III. Passenger alighting arrangements
(a) The drop-off zone for taxis will be at the southern kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road at the eastern side of the main entrance of the Hong Kong Stadium; and
(b) The drop-off zone for private cars will be at the northern kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road at the eastern side of the Hong Kong Stadium. Private cars are not allowed to drop off passengers outside the main entrance of the Hong Kong Stadium.
The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 7.30pm:
I. Road closure
(a) Caroline Hill Road;
(b) Eastern Hospital Road between Caroline Hill Road and Cotton Path;
(c) If necessary, the downhill section of northbound Link Road (except for vehicles heading for No.1, 3, 5 and 7 of Link Road);
(d) If necessary, Hoi Ping Road; and
(e) If necessary, Leighton Road.
II. Traffic diversion
(a) Before the end of the event, vehicles may be permitted to exit South China Athletic Association car parks and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) Workshops by turning right at the western exit. Vehicles may also be permitted to exit from the eastern exit of EMSD Workshops by turning left to northbound Caroline Hill Road;
(b) Before the end of the event, vehicles may be permitted to exit buildings on Eastern Hospital Road by turning right to northbound Eastern Hospital Road;
(c) Vehicles on westbound Leighton Road will be prohibited from entering Caroline Hill Road for Link Road. Affected vehicles will be diverted via Wong Nai Chung Road and Broadwood Road; and
(d) During the closure of Leighton Road, traffic from westbound Causeway Road will be directed to Irving Street; traffic from eastbound Morrison Hill Road will be diverted via Canal Road West; traffic from southbound Percival Street must turn right to westbound Leighton Road; and traffic from southbound Canal Road East cannot turn left to Leighton Road.
Learner drivers prohibition

The following roads will be prohibited to all learner drivers between 3.30pm and 9pm:
(a) Westbound Leighton Road;
(b) Sharp Street East;
(c) Percival Street south of Hennessy Road;
(d) Caroline Hill Road;
(e) Link Road;
(f) Stadium Path;
(g) Cotton Path;
(h) Eastern Hospital Road; and
(i) Eastern Hospital Road service road.
In addition, learner drivers will not be allowed to enter Tung Lo Wan Road from Causeway Road.
Parking spaces

All on-street parking spaces on the following roads will be suspended between 3.30pm and 9pm:
(a) Stadium Path;
(b) Northbound Caroline Hill Road between Stadium Path and Cotton Path;
(c) Yun Ping Road; and
(d) Hoi Ping Road.
Restriction on access to / exit from car parks in closed roads

If necessary, all car parks along Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road and Stadium Path may be closed at short notice. In addition, vehicles in car parks within the road closure areas may be prohibited to leave the car parks during the road closure period.
Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above will be towed away without prior notice.
Actual implementation of road closures and traffic control will be made by the Police at the time depending on traffic conditions in the areas. Motorists are urged to take heed of traffic signs and follow the instructions of Police at scene.
