Proposed road works of Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (May 10) on the proposed road works of the Cross Bay Link in Tseung Kwan O.

     The Cross Bay Link will connect the proposed Tseung Kwan O - Lam Tin Tunnel with Wan Po Road near Area 86 of Tseung Kwan O.

     The proposed works are as follows:

(i) Construction of the Cross Bay Link of approximately 1.8 kilometres long which consists of a dual two-lane carriageway, a cycle track, footpaths, central reserves/refuge islands, isolation panels, semi-enclosures, an arch bridge and amenity areas, with necessary junction improvement works;

(ii) Construction of a bridge of approximately 210 metres long which consists of a cycle track, a footpath, amenity areas and an associated lift and staircase, connecting the cycle track and footpath on the proposed Cross Bay Link with the waterfront promenade at the western side of Area 86 of Tseung Kwan O;

(iii) Permanent closure and conversion of sections of the existing carriageways into at-grade cycle tracks, at-grade footpaths and abutments;

(iv) Permanent closure and conversion of sections of the existing cycle tracks into at-grade carriageways and at-grade footpaths;

(v) Permanent closure and conversion of sections of the existing footpaths into at-grade carriageways, at-grade cycle tracks and abutments;

(vi) Temporary closure and reconstruction of sections of the existing carriageways, cycle tracks and footpaths; and

(vii) Ancillary works including modification of seawall; construction of an ancillary building; and civil, drainage, landscaping, street lighting and utility works.

     The plans and scheme are available for public inspection at the following places during office hours:

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 22/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong, on or before July 9, 2013.
