**********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (May 8) reminded the public that a trial of temporary traffic and transport arrangements to facilitate tram track renewal work would take place in Causeway Bay from 11am this Friday (May 10) to 11am next Monday (May 13).

The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

(1) Temporary traffic arrangements

* The middle lane of Percival Street from its junction with Russell Street to a point about 40 metres north of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic except trams.
* The bus-only lane in Percival Street will be cancelled.

(2) Temporary transport arrangements

The taxi pick up/drop off point on Percival Street near house nos. 56-60 will be temporarily suspended.

Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on site to guide motorists.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the temporary traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
