The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Environmental Affairs will conduct a site visit to waste management facilities in Tuen Mun and Tseung Kwan O this Saturday (May 11) from 1pm to 6.15pm to get to know the operation of the facilities.
Members of the Panel will visit Tuen Mun and Yuen Long Recycle Centre at Tsing Hoi Circuit, Tuen Mun, operated by New Opportunity Limited with funding support from the Environment and Conservation Fund. They will receive a briefing on the role and operation of the recycling centre. They will then go to EcoPark in Tuen Mun Area 38 and visit two or three tenants engaging in recycling of waste plastic, waste electrical and computer equipments and waste oil. Members will also visit the restored Tseung Kwan O Stage I Landfill and receive a briefing on landfill restoration and afteruse. They will observe the pet garden (under construction), cycle track and Tseung Kwan O Stage I Landfill large platform. In addition, Members will also tour the South East New Territories Landfill.
