S for S concludes his visit to London and Berlin (with photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, arrived in Berlin to begin the second leg of his visit.

     On May 6 (Berlin time) Mr Lai met with State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Dr Birgit Grundmann; the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Mr Klaus-Dieter Fritsche; the Berlin Senator of the Interior, Mr Frank Henkel; and the Vice President of the Federal Police, Mr Jürgen Schubert.

     During the meetings, Mr Lai updated them on the latest developments in Hong Kong and exchanged views with them on issues of common interest. Topics discussed included international co-operation on cross-border crimes, immigration matters and asylum issues.

     He said he looked forward to enhanced co-operation on these aspects between Hong Kong and Germany in the future.

     Today (May 7, Berlin time) Mr Lai will visit the Berlin Branch Office of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

     Before concluding his seven-day visit to London and Berlin, Mr Lai will attend a luncheon hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Shi Mingde.

     Mr Lai will return to Hong Kong on May 8.
