SCMA to lead delegation to Beijing

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, will depart for Beijing on May 5 (Sunday) to lead an official delegation to attend a study programme on the national policies on Taiwan affairs organised by the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG).

     The CAG is responsible for the overall co-ordination of the study programme, and has invited leaders of CPG ministries and bodies such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to brief the delegation on the latest developments of various aspects of the cross-Strait relations.

     The delegation comprises the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Ms Chang King-yiu; the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui; and representatives of relevant policy bureaux.

     Mr Tam will return to Hong Kong at noon on May 7. The delegation will proceed to Shanghai on May 8 to be briefed on its Taiwan-related work. The delegation will return to Hong Kong on May 9. During Mr Tam's absence, the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, will be the Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.
