21 building plans approved in March

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in March, with seven on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 11 were for commercial developments and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 22 building projects that, when completed, will provide 103,452 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 876 units, and 179,310 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued nine occupation permits, with one on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 5,862 sq m, involving eight units, and 1,704 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in March totalled about $420 million.

     In addition, 13 demolition consents involving 13 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3,836 reports about unauthorised building works in March, and issued 1,262 removal orders on unauthorised works.
