Proposed road works in Area 54, Tuen Mun gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (April 26) on proposed road works in Area 54, Tuen Mun, which are required to serve the anticipated traffic demand induced by future housing development in that area.

     The proposed works are as follows:

(i) construction of Road L54A comprising a section of a dual two-lane carriageway and a section of a single four-lane carriageway;

(ii) construction of a section of Road L54D comprising a section of a dual two-lane carriageway connecting Hing Kwai Street and the widened section of Hing Fu Street;

(iii) widening of a section of Hing Fu Street and a section of Tsz Tin Road;

(iv) reprovision of a section of Tong Hang Road for connection to the proposed Road L54A;

(v) construction of a public transport interchange and two bus lay-bys along the proposed Road L54A;

(vi) construction of cycle tracks, footpaths, central medians, safety islands, amenity areas, run-ins, vertical noise barriers and cantilever noise barriers;

(vii) permanent closure and conversion of sections of the existing carriageways into cycle tracks, footpaths, central medians and amenity areas;

(viii) permanent closure and conversion of sections of the existing cycle track into footpath;

(ix) permanent closure and conversion of sections of the existing footpaths into carriageways, cycle tracks, central medians and amenity areas;

(x) permanent closure and conversion of a section of the existing track into cycle tracks, footpath and amenity areas;

(xi) permanent closure and demolition of sections of the existing footpaths;

(xii) temporary closure and reconstruction of sections of the existing carriageways and footpaths; and

(xiii) ancillary works including drainage, sewerage, slope, retaining structures and landscaping works.

     The plan and scheme of the proposed works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or their use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 22/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong, on or before June 25, 2013.
