FEHD orders Causeway Bay restaurant to suspend business for two weeks
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Causeway Bay to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area and keeping live fish intended for human consumption in water of substandard quality.

The restaurant, located at shop F on the ground floor of Tang Fai Building at No. 36-48 Tang Lung Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (April 25) to May 8.

"In June last year and this March, two convictions for the breaches were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $7,000 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for illegally extending the food business area in January and June last year. A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in August last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
