CE receives Commission of Inquiry report
****************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (April 19) received the Report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Collision of Vessels near Lamma Island on 1 October 2012.

The Chief Executive thanked the Chairman and Commissioner, the Honourable Mr Justice Michael Victor Lunn, JA, and Commissioner, Mr Benjamin Tang Kwok-bun, for their hard work and dedication in completing the inquiry and submitting the report within six months.

As charges for manslaughter have been laid against the two coxswains involved in the incident, it is incumbent upon the Government to consider how to deal with the relevant part of the Report concerning the two coxswains. In this respect, the Government is now seeking legal advice and will publish the Report in an appropriate manner once a decision is made.
