Talks and film shows increase diversity of events in Chinese Opera Festival

     The Chinese Opera Festival 2013 presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will be launched in June. Apart from stage performances, the annual festival is offering a wide variety of choices including talks and film shows to promote better understanding of Chinese opera.

     Information on the talks and film shows is as follows:

Talks on the Art of Kunqu Opera (conducted in Putonghua and Cantonese)

Topic: "Learning Experience with Mentors of the 'Chuan' Generation"

May 26 (Sunday), 2.30pm
Topic: "Vocal Techniques and Line Delivery - The Meticulous Performing Art Form of Kunqu Opera"

Speaker: Le Yiping (Kunqu virtuoso and former actress of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe)
Moderator: Cheung Lai-chun (Kunqu researcher)

Venue: AC1, Level 4, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Tickets: $50 per talk

Starring: Yang Qiuling, Wang Jinghua, Guo Jinhua, Liang Youlian, Wang Wangshu and Feng Zhikao

June 9 (Sunday), 7.30pm
Sixian opera film "The Empty Seal Box"
Starring: Wang Yongchu, Li Xiaolou, Jin Shuangquan, Li Tieshan and Wang Wenfang

Venue: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum
Tickets: $30 per screening

Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
