LegCo to resume Second Reading debate on Appropriation Bill 2013

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on this Wednesday (April 17) at 11am and Thursday (April 18) at 9am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex.

     During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Appropriation Bill 2013 will resume and Members will speak on the Bill.

     In addition, the Stamp Duty (Amendment) Bill 2013 will be introduced into the Council for First and Second Readings. Second Reading debate on the bills will be adjourned.

     Meanwhile, the Secretary for Food and Health will proposed a resolution under section 34(2) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance in relation to the Import and Export (General) (Amendment) Regulation 2013. Mr Vincent Fang, Ms Cyd Ho, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Chung Kwok-pan and Mr Dennis Kwok will move six proposed resolutions under section 34(2) of the Interpretation and General Clauses respectively.  

     Mr Wong Ting-kwong will move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Companies (Revision of Financial Statements and Reports) Regulation and the Companies (Disclosure of Information about Benefits of Directors) Regulation laid on the table of the LegCo on March 27, 2013, to the meeting of May 15, 2013.

     In addition, Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, all of which require written replies.

     Members of the public are welcome to observe the proceedings of the meeting from the public galleries of the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. They may reserve seats by calling 3919 3399 during office hours. Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Members of the public can also watch or listen the meeting via the web broadcast system on the LegCo website.
