The Family Council staged a rerun of the "Love And Respect Thy Elders" (LARTE) Campaign musical at the Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre this afternoon (April 13) to promote the importance of filial piety through performances by young talents. Over 1,000 students and parents from 20 schools participated.
The Chairman of the Family Council, Professor Daniel Shek, attended the event and shared his personal experiences to encourage youngsters to show their love and care for the elderly. He said he believed that through participation in the musical, the younger generation would have new insights on filial piety and think about how to put it into practice.
The LARTE Campaign is co-organised by the Family Council, the Commission on Youth, the Elderly Commission and the Women's Commission to encourage every family member to respect the elderly by putting love, concern, respect and care into action. A highlight of the campaign, the LARTE musical premiered in December 2012.
