Hospital Authority submits renewal for Limited Registration
***********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) today (April 12) submitted to the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) applications for renewal of Limited Registration for three non-local doctors whose one-year registration will expire in the middle of this year. The doctors, one in Anaesthesia and two in Family Medicine, were recruited last year upon the approval for practice under one-year Limited Registration by the MCHK.

The HA spokesman said that 13 non-local doctors have been approved by MCHK in the past year for practice in public hospitals under Limited Registration to relieve manpower pressure in the specialties of Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. By the end of last year the MCHK had already approved the renewal of Limited Registration of four non-local doctors, two in Anaesthesia, one in Internal Medicine and one in Emergency Medicine.

The spokesman remarked that the HA will continue to exhaust every effort to attract fully registered local doctors and retain public doctors who are facing stringent workloads and frequent call duties amid the current manpower shortfall.
