A fire broke out at a unit in Block 10, South Horizons, Ap Lei Chau this morning (April 11). The fire involved a 42 floors residential building. A residential unit on 17 floors was severely damaged by fire and three residential units on the same floor were also damaged.
The fire broke out at 6.12am this morning. It was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 6.54am, and a No. 4 alarm at 7.12am. The fire was surrounded at 8.30am this morning and was largely put out at 9.21am.
Firemen used two jets and four breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. A hundred and two people were led to safety and about a hundred people were self-evacuated to safety.
Three people sustained burns, one was slightly injured, and another two were feeling unwell in the fire. They were sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment. Four of them have been treated and discharged and the other two are in serious condition.
Investigation is continuing.
