The Transport Department (TD) today (April 11) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements for tram track renewal work on Des Voeux Road Central in the Central district have changed due to the effects of recent inclement weather.
The temporary road closures of the fast lane of Des Voeux Road Central westbound from a point about 15 metres east of its junction with Ice House Street to a point about 5 metres west of the same junction and the slow lane of Ice House Street northbound from a point about 30 metres south of its junction with Des Voeux Road Central to the same junction will be extended from 6am on Saturday (April 13) to 6am on Sunday (April 14). The road sections will be closed to all vehicular traffic except trams during the temporary road closures.
Other related temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be unchanged. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
