Duo charged with manslaughter over vessel collision incident off Lamma Island

     Police today (April 11) laid charges against two coxswains aged 54 and 56 in connection with the vessel collision incident off Lamma Island on October 1 last year with 39 counts of manslaughter separately.

     Police received reports on October 1 evening last year that two vessels collided off Yung Shue Wan, resulting in the death of 39 passengers and another 92 passengers injured. Police arrested the two coxswains and other five male crew members aged between 50 and 63 on October 2 last year.

     The coxswains were charged today after Police sought legal advice and they will appear before Eastern Magistrates' Courts this afternoon. The five crew members will answer bail in mid-April.
