Man arrested for murder

     Police today (April 10) arrested a 57-year-old man suspected to be in connection with the murder case in which his 49-year-old wife died in Chai Wan in the evening.

     About 7pm, Police received a report that a 57-year-old man had a dispute with a 49-year-old woman at a restaurant on 100 Shing Tai Road. The man then reportedly attacked the woman with a knife.

     Police sped to the scene and located the couple. The woman was found lying unconsciously on the floor with multiple cut wounds on her body. She was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 7.25pm. Police seized a knife at scene.

     Police arrested the man for murder. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Post mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Investigations by District Crime Squad of Eastern District are under way.
