******************************************************

The Opening Ceremony of the 4th Hong Kong Games (HKG) will be staged at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground in the evening of April 27 (Saturday). Free admission tickets will be available for public collection from Friday (April 12).

The opening ceremony, to be held between 7pm and 10pm, will feature special programmes including performances by the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, and a grand illusion show by Mr Avon Lee. London 2012 Olympic Games gold medallist in taekwondo, Ms Wu Jing-yu; London 2012 Olympic Games gold winner in the trampoline, Mr Dong Dong; and local elite athletes including cyclist Ms Sarah Lee will take part in lighting the Cauldron of the Games.

Free admission tickets for the ceremony will be distributed at the District Leisure Services Offices of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) from April 12. Each person can obtain up to two tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Details of the District Leisure Services Offices can be found in the Annex, and are also available on the HKG dedicated homepage (www.hongkonggames.hk). For enquiries, please call 2601 7671.

The organiser will also, through the 18 District Councils and schools, arrange for community organisations and students of primary and secondary schools and their parents to attend the show.

Members of the public who obtain free admission tickets are advised to make good use of the tickets and attend the event on time. Those without entry tickets can watch the highlights of the ceremony to be broadcast on the TVB-Jade channel between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on the same night.

The 4th HKG, a territory-wide major biennial multi-sport event in Hong Kong, will be staged between April 27 and June 2. It aims to provide districts with more opportunities for sports participation, exchanges and co-operation, and to encourage members of the public to actively participate in sports, thereby further promoting the culture of "Sport for All" at the community level.

Over 3 000 athletes selected from the 18 districts will compete for their respective districts in the Games, which includes eight sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, futsal, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.

The 4th HKG is organised by the Sports Commission and co-ordinated by the Community Sports Committee with the 18 District Councils; the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China; relevant National Sports Associations; and the LCSD as co-organisers. The Hong Kong Jockey Club is the Principal Contributor.

Details of the 4th HKG and its related activities are available at the HKG dedicated homepage.
