Special traffic arrangements for public procession on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement the following special traffic arrangements this Sunday (April 7) to facilitate the holding of a public procession on Hong Kong Island.

A. Road closure

From 2.30pm onwards:

- Gloucester Road U-turn slip road between southbound Gloucester Road and northbound Gloucester Road;
- Sugar Street;
- Jardine's Bazaar;
- Tang Lung Street; and
- A section of Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street.

From 3.15pm onwards:

- Southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
- Irving Street (except for vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
- A section of westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
- Kai Chiu Road;
- A section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
- A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
- A section of Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road west of Lee Garden Road;
- A slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road; and
- Westbound Queensway will be intermittently closed.

From 4.30pm onwards:

- A section of eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Murray Road;
- A section of northbound Ice House Street between Queen・s Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central;
- A section of southbound Murray Road between Harcourt Road and Queensway;
- A section of southbound Cotton Tree Drive between the U-turn slip road of southbound Cotton Tree Drive and Queensway;
- A section of eastbound Queensway between Murray Road and Tamar Street;
- Northbound Tamar Street;
- A section of westbound Harcourt Road between Rodney Street and Tamar Street;
- The first and second right lanes of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
- A section of southbound Murray Road and a section of southbound Club Street between Chater Road and Connaught Road Central;
- A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles heading for Chief Executive・s Office and Central Government Complex car park); and
- A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

B. Traffic diversion

From 2.30pm onwards:

- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street cannot turn left to Jardine・s Bazaar;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
- Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Canal Road East.

From 3.15pm onwards:

- Traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover will be diverted to westbound Gloucester Road if necessary;
- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for Causeway Road will be diverted to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover if necessary;
- Traffic along eastbound Great George Street must turn left to northbound Gloucester Road (except for vehicles heading for southbound Tai Hang Road flyover);
- Traffic along westbound Causeway Road cannot turn right to Irving Street (except for vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel) and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along Irving Street must turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- Traffic along Yun Ping Road must turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
- Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near the junction with Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fleming Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fenwick Street cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road; and
- Traffic along northbound Justice Drive cannot turn left to westbound Queensway.

From 4.30pm onwards:

- Traffic along westbound Lambeth Walk must go straight ahead to westbound Chater Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street;
- Traffic along westbound Queen・s Road Central cannot turn right to northbound Ice House Street;
- Traffic along northbound Ice House Street between Wyndham Street and Queen・s Road Central must turn left to westbound Queen・s Road Central;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to Murray Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Garden Road flyover must turn left to northbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along southbound Cotton Tree Drive must make an U-turn to northbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road will be diverted to southbound Rodney Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles heading for Chief Executive・s Office and Central Government Complex car park); and
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to southbound Edinburgh Place.

C. Suspension of bus stops, taxi stand, public light bus (PLB) stand and green minibus (GMB) stand

- The PLB stand at Sugar Street will be suspended from 2.30pm;
- The GMB stand at Tang Lung Street will be suspended from 2.30pm;
- All bus stops along westbound Yee Wo Street, westbound Hennessy Road, and a section of westbound Queen・s Road Central between Garden Road and Pedder Street will be suspended from 3.15pm;
- All bus stops along a section of eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Murray Road, a section of northbound Ice House Street between Queen・s Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central, a section of southbound Murray Road between Harcourt Road and Queensway, and eastbound Queensway, and bus stops and bus terminal on Tamar Street will be suspended from 4.30pm; and
- The taxi stand on Drake Street will be suspended from 4.30pm.

D. Suspension of car parks

     All car parks along westbound Hennessy Road may be closed at short notice if necessary. In addition, vehicles may not be permitted to leave or access the car parks along the procession routes during the road closure period.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
