3D smartphone case company chooses Hong Kong as its start-up location (with photo)
************************************************************

UCreate3D announced today (April 3) that it has set up in Hong Kong and is offering customised 3D printed smartphone and tablet cases to cater to growing demand from high-end customers in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta.

UCreate3D is one of the first e-commerce platforms in Asia to offer customised 3D printed smartphone and tablet cases. It offers an easy Internet interface for customers to place orders and draw their own designs or provide photos for personalised 3D printed smartphone and tablet cases.

One of the Dutch founders, Mr Koen Munneke, said that the company sees great potential in the phone case market in Hong Kong as customers have high disposable income and are willing to spend money on a personalised phone or tablet case.

Mr Munneke said, "Hong Kong is the gateway to Mainland China. Business people commute between the two regularly and easily. Starting our first company in Hong Kong can provide us with more insight into the Mainland market, which will help our future expansion plans for the Mainland and elsewhere in the world."

He said, "Hong Kong is a very business-friendly environment where we can start off relatively easily and safely. The availability of talent in the market was another attraction. We have met many inspiring entrepreneurs who have great ideas." He added that UCreate3D has already raised nearly HK$130,000 through a crowd-funding campaign.

The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed UCreate3D to Hong Kong. "Local consumers are very fast to follow market trends. As far as phone cases are concerned, they are becoming something of a fashion as people are willing to spend money on new cases from time to time. The large number of visitors in Hong Kong, particularly those from Mainland China, will also let UCreate3D test the market for its brand before any planned expansion into the Mainland."
