New Road Safety Council website launched
****************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Road Safety Council:

The Road Safety Council (RSC) website (www.roadsafety.gov.hk), which incorporates a host of new features to publicise road safety messages, was launched today (April 3) after being revamped.

After a face-lifting with a complete restructure of the content, four main themes, namely anti-drink driving, anti-drug driving, cycling safety and pedestrian safety, have been identified and placed in the homepage with attractive icons to draw public attention. The "What's New" section, which is now aligned on the right-hand side of the homepage, has also been improved to provide the latest information and web links to update the public on the RSC's activities.

In addition, the new website conforms to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA requirements. This is to make sure that the website content is accessible to all, not only for persons with disabilities but also for elderly persons, persons with specific difficulties in reading and writing, and those suffering from colour blindness and epilepsy. Meanwhile, the website has also enriched its multimedia content such as the photo gallery and promotional videos. Members of the public can now review the publicity campaigns and TV Announcements in the Public Interest on road safety.

While disseminating the most up-to-date road safety messages to the public, the new RSC website will continue to promote road safety with its informative and interesting content.
