Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tuen Mun this morning (April 2) in which a nine-year-old girl was killed.
At about 11.14 am, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 42-year-old man was travelling along Castle Peak Road towards Yuen Long. When approaching near Lam Tei Main Street, the HGV reportedly knocked down the nine-year-old girl who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious injuries to her head, the girl was certified dead at scene.
The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are under way.
