CEDD awards contract for site formation works of Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point project
******************************************************

The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (March 28) awarded a contract of about $510 million for the site formation works of the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point (BCP) project, which is the first among the four main civil engineering contracts of the project.

The project is to develop a new BCP in Ta Kwu Ling and link to the Fanling Highway by an 11-kilometre-long dual two-lane connecting road. The BCP will be the seventh land crossing between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. It will provide efficient access to eastern Guangdong and the adjacent provinces and greatly facilitate future regional co-operation and development. The connecting road will also provide convenient access to local road networks and the future developments in North District, and hence improve the overall transport network in the adjoining areas.

The awarded contract works mainly comprise site formation of about 23 hectares of land for the development of the BCP and modification works at Lin Ma Hang Road. They are scheduled to commence in April for completion by mid-2015 to tie in with the timetable of the building works for the BCP.
