An inmate attacked and injured a Correctional Services officer at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (March 27).
At about 4.15pm, the 37-year-old male inmate, turned emotional and bumped the officer with his shoulder, causing the officer to fall on the floor. Reinforcement officers managed to stop the inmate immediately.
The officer who sustained injuries at his lower-back was given medical treatment at the centre hospital and was transferred to a public hospital where he was discharged after treatment.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The inmate was sentenced today to imprisonment of five years and four months for an offence of trafficking in dangerous drug.
