The Task Force on Manpower Development of the Retail Industry met for the first time today (March 27).
The Task Force discussed its work plan with a view to completing its work within 2013. Representatives of the Government, the Vocational Training Council and the Hong Kong Retail Management Association also presented their observations and views on the retail industry's business outlook and manpower situation to the Task Force for reference.
The Financial Secretary announced the setting up of the Task Force in his 2013-14 Budget Speech. The terms of reference of the Task Force are to study the business outlook of the retail industry and its manpower demand and supply, and to advise the Government on matters relating to the overall manpower development of the industry in order to sustain its long-term growth.
