Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei this (March 26) morning in which a 78-year-old man died.

     At about 9.14am, a mud truck driven by a 38-year-old man was travelling along Waterloo Road towards Yau Ma Tei. When it moved on after stopping behind a traffic light near the junction with Wylie Road, it reportedly knocked down the 78-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious injuries to his head, the pedestrian was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.18am.

     The truck driver, arrested for dangerous driving causing death, has been released on police bail and shall report back in early May.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are underway.
