Advance booking for Pui O Campsite invited from tomorrow
********************************************************

Advance booking for the use of the Pui O Campsite during the Labour Day holiday period from April 27 to May 5 is invited from tomorrow (March 27).

The Pui O Campsite at Lantau is run by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

Hong Kong residents who wish to use the campsite during the above period can submit their application in person or by post to the LCSD's Islands District Leisure Services Office (DLSO) at 6/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong. Application will close on April 11. Applicants will be notified of the result before April 19.

Application forms can be downloaded from the LCSD's website at www.lcsd.gov.hk or obtained from the LCSD's Islands DLSO. For enquiries, please call 2852 3220.

There are 52 camp bays at the Pui O Campsite. Each applicant can only book one camp bay for a maximum of four consecutive nights. If the number of bookings exceeds the number of available camp bays, the LCSD will allocate the camp bays by ballot. Successful applicants are required to produce the confirmation letter and documentary proof of identity in person upon admission to the campsite. If camp bays are unfilled, local residents as well as visitors can register for use of the facilities at the campsite office on a first-come, first-served basis.

To enhance the management of the Pui O Campsite and to allow campers to better plan their camping activity, the LCSD is trying out the above new booking arrangements at the campsite for three Mainland long holiday periods, namely the Labour Day, National Day and Lunar New Year.

Outside the above specified periods, the department will continue to adopt the current on-site registration arrangement to enable local residents as well as visitors to use the camp bays on a first-come, first-served basis without having to make prior booking.

The new booking and allocation arrangements for the camp bays were introduced on a trial basis. The department will closely monitor usage during the aforesaid periods and review the effectiveness of the new arrangements in due course.
