CSSA caseload for February

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a drop of 842 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared to that of January, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 20).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 268 101 (see attached table), with a total of 415 462 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.6 per cent and 1.5 per cent to 23 420 cases and 10 076 cases respectively. Single parent cases and permanent disability cases also dropped by 0.4 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 30 642 cases and 18 356 cases respectively.

     Old age cases registered a slight decrease of 0.1 per cent to 153 361 cases and ill-health cases remained steady at 25 236 cases.
