Fabergé exhibition fringe activities to be launched during Easter holidays
******************************

To coincide with its latest large-scale exhibition, "Fabergé: Legacy of Imperial Russia", the Hong Kong Heritage Museum will launch a series of education programmes during the Easter holidays to enhance visitors¡¦ knowledge of the exhibits and Russian culture. The programmes will include talks, workshops and guided tours.

Running from February 6 until April 29, the exhibition is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and co-organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the Fersman Mineralogical Museum. The exhibition features more than 200 pieces of jewellery and adornments once belonging to the Russian imperial family. The most attractive treasures on display are four celebrated Fabergˆm Easter eggs created for the Russian court. With their superb workmanship and exceptional design, the Fabergé eggs represent the height of Russian jewellery craftsmanship and have always been highly sought after by museums and collectors worldwide. They also bear witness to the changes that Russian society underwent at this time.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum has organised a series of talks at which speakers will introduce the stories behind the Fabergé eggs, explain the uniqueness of the Fabergˆm jewellery and reflect on the Russian customs they discovered during their travels. Details of the talks are as follows:

Topic: "Everlasting Design ¡V The Craftsmanship of Classic and Contemporary Jewellery"
Speaker: Studio jeweller Ms Cicy Ching
Date: March 16

Topic: "A Glimpse of Treasure ¡V Stories behind the Fabergé Eggs"
