Hong Kong Chamber Choir to perform in "Gloria" concert

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the concert "Gloria" by the Hong Kong Chamber Choir and featuring the Hong Kong Soloists will be held in April.

     Under the baton of conductor Richard Tsang, the concert will offer patrons a delightful evening with a programme featuring Vivaldi's "Gloria, RV 589" and Bach's "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Wake Up, the Voice Calls Us), BWV 140" and "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (Heart and Mouth and Deed and Life), BWV 147".

     The Hong Kong Chamber Choir was established in 1999 with a specific mission of promoting and performing demanding choral works for small-size choir. Over the past years, the Choir has given a number of successful concerts including Schutz's "Christmas Story"; Handel's oratorio "Alexander's Feast"; Bach's "St John Passion", "St Matthew Passion", "Christmas Oratorio", "Magnificat" and "Mass in B Minor"; "An Evening of Baroque Motets"; "Voice of the Renaissance"; "Vocal Delights Made in Hong Kong"; Fauré's "Requiem"; Haydn's "The Creation"; and Purcell's "Anthems".

     The Hong Kong Soloists was formed in 1998 by a group of professional musicians and active performers in the local classical music scene. The group's mission is to offer the best class of playing in the world of classical music, including solo, orchestra and concerto works, as well as vocal repertoire.

     The concert "Gloria" by the Hong Kong Chamber Choir will be staged at 8pm on April 14 (Sunday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets priced at $120, $100 and $80 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
