CSD officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre
********************************************************

Correctional services officers intercepted the smuggling of a quantity of suspected dangerous drugs by an inmate on recall into Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre yesterday (March 12).

During a security search on the 39-year-old male inmate, the officers found a small plastic bag containing three pills of suspected dangerous drugs affixed to his lower part.

The inmate was recalled because of breaching the supervising order.

A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

The case was reported to the Police for further inquiry.

There have been 15 seizures of dangerous drugs so far this year. Most of the seizures were made in reception centres.
