Oral history theatre project to collect memories of the elderly in Kwun Tong
********************************************************

Co-organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Chung Ying Theatre Company and the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council, the "Community Oral History Theatre Project - Kwun Tong District" aims to promote district arts and cultural activities. Through a series of workshops, the Project will enable elderly participants who have lived in Kwun Tong for many years to recount their own stories on stage as an oral history theatre performance.

The Project encourages the elderly to be active in arts and cultural activities. Through the performance, memories of the past can be cherished and the younger generation can not only understand how previous generations grew up, but also reflect on their own lives.

In order to develop local consciousness and a sense of recognition in the Hong Kong community, the information and oral history acquired in the Project will be collected as a book on Kwun Tong oral history.

The finale performance of the "Community Oral History Theatre Project - Kwun Tong District", "The People, the Story and the Memory", will be staged at 7.30pm on April 13 (Saturday) and at 2.30pm on April 14 (Sunday) at the Theatre, Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre. Tickets priced at $40 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by credit card telephone booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
