Police are investigating a murder and suicide case in Sheung Shui last night (March 4) in which a 35-year-old woman and a seven-month-old baby boy died.
At about 9.10pm, a 43-year-old man made a report to the Police that his wife and son were found lying unconscious inside their residence in Tsz Tong Tsuen. A basin with burnt charcoal was found nearby.
The woman and the baby boy were rushed to North District Hospital where they were later certified dead at 10.14pm and 10.06pm respectively.
Initial enquiries revealed that the woman entered the kitchen with her son and lit up the charcoal to commit suicide.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of their death.
Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po are under way.
