Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lantau North at noon time today (March 4) in which a 44-year-old man was killed.
At about noon, when travelling along Magic Road towards Sunny Bay, a 40-year-old man driving a private car reportedly lost control and rammed into the left side kerb before hitting a tree on the central divider.
After the impact, the driver and a 44-year-old male passenger sustained injuries. The passenger was trapped inside the compartment and was rescued by firemen. The driver and passenger were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital, where the passenger was certified dead at 1.02pm.
The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
