Special traffic arrangements for public processions on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement the following special traffic arrangements this Sunday (March 3) to facilitate two public processions held on Hong Kong Island.

(I)

A. Road closure (implemented from 2.30pm)

- Eastbound Des Voeux Road Central outside Chater Garden will be intermittently closed;
- A section of Queen¡¦s Road Central between Garden Road and Pedder Street;
- Northbound Pedder Street;
- A section of northbound Man Yiu Street between Connaught Road Central and Finance Street;
- A section of southbound Man Yiu Street between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Place;
- Connaught Place;
- East and West Edinburgh Place; and
- First and second left lanes of eastbound Connaught Road Central between Edinburgh Place and Tim Wa Avenue.

B. Traffic diversion (implemented from 2.30pm)

- Traffic along westbound Queensway will be diverted to westbound Des Voeux Road Central;
- Traffic along northbound Ice House Street cannot turn left to westbound Queen¡¦s Road Central;
- Traffic along northbound Pedder Street must turn left or right to eastbound or westbound Connaught Road Central;
- Traffic along westbound Connaught Road Central cannot turn right to Man Yiu Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Connaught Road Central cannot turn right to Man Yiu Street;
- Traffic along southbound Man Yiu Street must turn left to eastbound Lung Wo Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Man Cheung Street cannot turn left to Man Yiu Street; and
- Traffic along westbound Lung Wo Road cannot turn right to Man Yiu Street.

C. Suspension of bus stops

     All bus stops along the section of Queen¡¦s Road Central between Garden Road and Pedder Street, Pedder Street, and Edinburgh Place will be suspended from 2.30pm onwards until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal.

D. Restriction on access to and exit from car parks

     All car parks along the procession route may be closed in short notice if necessary. Vehicles in these car parks may not be permitted to leave or access the car parks during the road closure period.

(II)

     Another public procession will depart at 3pm from East Point Road pedestrian precinct to the Central Government offices via westbound Hennessy Road, Queensway southern pavement (westward), Pacific Place footbridge, Queensway Plaza, Citic Tower footbridge and Tim Mei Avenue. Intermittent road closure along the above route will be implemented.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
