Consultation on fine-tuning of Through-train Mode and Feeder/ Nominated School Systems launched
******************************************************

The Education Bureau (EDB) has launched a two-month consultation on the fine-tuning of the Through-train (TT) mode and the feeder/nominated school systems. The consultation will end on April 20.

"With the new mode of TT schools in operation for a decade, the EDB commissioned a consultancy study in late 2010 to gauge the views and experience of the TT schools with a view to better facilitate the development of TT schools in accordance with the vision put forward in the Education Commission's reform proposals," an EDB spokesman said today (February 28).

"It also seeks to explore possible solutions to address the existing feeder and nominated schools' difficulties in turning to TT mode of operation.

"A Working Group, including members of the education sector and independent professionals, was also formed to steer and oversee the study.

"The consultancy study concluded that the TT concept to strengthen the collaboration between primary and secondary schools in order to provide students with a coherent learning experience should be supported.  It also noted that the TT spirit has been established in the practice of various modes of school operation."

The EDB is consulting stakeholders on the refinement of the TT mode and the feeder/ nominated school systems.  Views from the education sector and the community are welcome for further refinement of the relevant school systems.

The Consultation on Refinement of the Through-train Mode and the Feeder/ Nominated School Systems has been uploaded onto the website of the "Through-train" Mode of the EDB's homepage (www.edb.gov.hk/en/edu-system/primary-secondary/applicable-to-primary-secondary/through-train/index.html).
